Merrill Gay Adds Another to His Unprecedented List of Endorsements

Connecticut Hispanic Democratic Caucus Endorses Merrill Gay and Democratic Slate

New Britain, C.T. — Today, the Connecticut Hispanic Democratic Caucus has become the latest organization to endorse Merrill Gay, the Democratic candidate for Mayor of New Britain, as well as the entire democratic slate of candidates for the election this fall.

“Our caucus typically only endorses Hispanic candidates. However, with no Hispanic candidate running for mayor, the glowing endorsement Merrill received from Bobby (Rep. Bobby Sanchez D-25) and the wealth of Hispanic candidates on the democratic slate running alongside Merrill, we felt that it was the right thing to do,” said CHDC president Norma Rodriguez. “We are very confident that Merrill will serve our community as Mayor of New Britain”

“I am proud to stand with Merrill as he receives this endorsement.” said Representative Bobby Sanchez, a member of the caucus. “He is the only candidate for mayor who actually wants to include every community in the city of New Britain, not just the ones that agree with him.”

“This endorsement is not just about me. It’s also about our great Democratic slate whose diversity is representative of all city residents,” said Merrill Gay. “I am proud to earn the support of such an important coalition, and look forward to continuing our partnership to take back New Britain.”

The Connecticut Hispanic Democratic Caucus joins the growing list of organizations, labor unions, and officials that have endorsed Merrell, including the New Britain Democratic Town Committee, United Auto Workers and the Working Families Party.

The Connecticut Hispanic Democratic Caucus (CHDC) is a statewide coalition of Hispanic/Latino elected and appointed officials, community leaders, clergy, and business leaders. The mission of the caucus is to promote the political empowerment amongst Latinos throughout the State of Connecticut.
